Had a couple of hours so picked a small item before moving onto the horizontal stabiizer. Assembled the wheels and tires. Inflated to 10 psi until needed.
Attempted a trial fit of other components including axle, L01-12, and spacer, L01-11. Found the axle diameter to be 0.744" and the ID of the spacer was 0.737". The spacer ID is at least .007" undersize! Will need to check with Sonex. I doubt this is supposed to be a shrink fit.
Sonex suggests sanding spacer ID for clearance. The ID is not critical.
Spent some time investigating an electric trim possibility based on the one in my Rutan Varieze drawings. See Image 2. The indicated servo has the position pot removed, but if still installed, it could be used to give a trim tab position indication inside the cockpit. The Varieze roll trim tab is mounted on the wing itself, not the aileron. It may be possible to mount a roll trim tab on the trailing edge of the wing tip. I'm using some leftover rudder skin to mockup a couple of possible pitch trim tab methods. Getting wires into the elevator would be a challenge but easy if on the wingtip fiberglass since it doesn't move. Still the issue of getting wires past the folding wing mechanism.
